As the first one of ＂Nigeria Tetralogy＂, Things Fall Apart describes the tragedy ending of Okonkwa. This paper tries to analyze the scapegoat image of Okonkwa who plays the role of redemption from the angle of Archetype Theory, aiming to show that why the author Chinua Achebe makes him die tragically in the end. The death of him is a symbol of the decaying of old institution and the establishing of a new one.
