Analysis of English Navigation Idioms and Its Translating Strategies from the Perspective of Social-semiotics

英语航海习语因其简明扼要、生动形象等特点,在英语中占据一席之地。该文在阐述社会符号学三种意义及其与翻译的关系的基础上,探析了直译法、借用法、字面加注译法、归化译法以及释义译法等英语航海习语翻译策略,使英语航海习语能更准确地转换成中文。

Navigation idiom plays an important role in the English language because of its characteristics of conciseness and vividness. This paper discussed the three meanings of social-semiotics and theirs relation to translation, and analyzed these English navigation translation strategies including literal translation, borrowing, literal translation plus paraphrase, naturalization translation and commentaries translation, in order to convert the English navigation idioms into Chinese more accurately.
