Objective To investigate the effect of individualized nursing intervention on disease awareness,self-efficacy of treatment, sleeping quality and quality of life in patients with gastric cancer. Methods A total of 140 cases of gastric cancer patients were randomly divided into the control group and the observation group. All patients were given routine nursing, and the observation group was applied with individualized nursing interventions additionally. The disease awareness self-efficacy of treatment and sleep quality by Athens insomnia scale( AIS) before and 1,2,4,8 weeks after intervention,as well as the quality of life by EORTC QLQ-STO22 before and 8 weeks after intervention, were compared between two groups. Results There was an increase in scores of disease awareness and self-efficacy of treatment, and a decrease in score of AIS,at 1,2,4,8 weeks after intervention( P < 0. 01). The observation group reached a higher score of disease awareness and self-efficacy of treatment, but a lower score of AIS,compared with the control groups at 1,2,4,8 weeks after intervention respectively( P < 0. 01). The scale of all dimensions in QLQ-STO22 were decreased in both of two groups after intervention( P < 0. 01),and was significant lower in the observation group than that of controls( P < 0. 05 or P < 0. 01). Conclusion Individualized nursing intervention can improve the disease awareness,self-efficacy of treatment, sleeping quality and quality of life in patients with gastric cancer.
