论语言学研究中的自主性

On Autonomy in Linguistic Studies

语言学研究中的功能主义与形式主义之争由来已久,对自主性的认识是争论的焦点所在。抛开具体论点,仅基于方法论考量,自主性是一个相对概念。出于认识事物本质的需要,当某项研究不可还原为其他研究且研究过程不受其他研究的直接制约,则该项研究具有自主性。依此判断,语言学研究中的功能主义与形式主义彼此自主,同时两者又互为补充,共同深化了对语言本质的认识。

Autonomy has long been the focus of controversy between formalists and functionalists in linguistics study. Methodologically,autonomy means autonomy in research,and one research is autonomous to another in case that the former can neither be reduced nor be directly constrained by the latter. Linguistic formalism and linguistic functionalism are two such researches. Meanwhile,they are also complementary in their exploration of the nature of human language.
