Duanmu Hongliang, a Manchu writer on the influence of family and age, formed a distinctive folk standpoint, and constructed an unique sen of the female. All his life he witnessed the Liberation of Chinese Women, and promoted their role by using male discourse. His novels created numerous female images by sympathizing with women’s misfortune, praising their excellent qualities. In Chinese Contemporary Literature History, he is a rare and mild feminist defender. With his works, Duanmu Hongliang’s name and characters shall live on through history.
