Based on the usage of the Chinese-English Conference Interpreting Corpus, this paper investigates the usage of delixicalized verbs in Chinese-English conference interpreting. The study shows that the English delexicalized verb "make" occurs with a higher frequency in the interpreted English texts of Chinese-English conference interpreting than in the original English texts of press conferences held by American government, but the frequency of the delexicalized verb "make" exhibits no significant diffe- rence from the translated texts of the work report of Chinese government. This is to a large extent attributable to the high occur- rence of Chinese delexicalized verbs in the source text of Chinese-English conference interpreting, the strong collability of the de- lexicalized verb "make", and the fact that the use of the delexicalized verb" make" renders language expression formal. The study also indicates that the collocation of the delexicalized verb "make" + noun is often used to express verbal acts in the interpreted texts of Chinese-English conference interpreting, but it has nothing to do with verbal acts in the translated texts of the work report of Chinese government, since a press conference is composed of such acts as interrogating and answering, while the report is not.
