《明诗评选》是王船山几种古诗评选与诗话所结成终端成果。在此,一代明诗,船山倾心于聚焦古诗,其倾情与刻意处在于指出中华古诗传承着一个以《古诗十九首》为高潮亮点的古风真脉。魏晋以至于唐宋以来,此真脉时隐时现,时强劲时黯弱。明代以刘基等代表的诗人以自己特有的魅力传承着此诗性,呈现"一片俊伟之气"。与之相比,无论是茶陵派、前后七子还是公安派、竟陵派,他们或以"恢复"为己任,或以正统为归趣,或以个性标举,均失以偏颇,行行欲远。船山从宏观与个案两个角度表现出对此的清算。

Selection of Poems in Ming Dynasty is Wang Chuanshan＇s terminal achievements of the ancient poetry selection and comments. Here, as a generation of poet in Ming Dynasty, Chuanshan focused on ancient poetry, he pointed out that Chinese ancient poetry inherited a climax of Nineteen Ancient Poems which highlighted the archaic true pulse. Since Wei and Jin Dynasties even to Tang and Song Dynasties, this true pulse seemed to come and go, sometimes strong and sometimes weak. In Ming Dynasty, the poets represen- ted by Liu Ji inherited the nature of the poetry with their unique poetic charming and showed a preeminently learned spirit. Compared with this, whether Chaling School, before and after Seven Sub or Public Security School and Jingling School, they took ＂ restore as their own duty, or took the orthodox as the returning fun, or showed the individual features, but all lost to bias and went furthering away. Chuanshan showed his liquidation from the two angles of macro and individual case.
