The Lessons Chinese Galleries Can Learn from the Way Volunteers of the Metropolitan Art Museum Operate

大都会艺术博物馆自建馆之日起便十分注重公共教育,建馆145年来,已经形成非常丰富的公共教育项目,不管是固定陈列还是特别展览,展品还是在线活动,乃至提倡公众积极参与的艺术实践活动。这些活动的成功实施离不开该馆的志愿者运作机制。这无疑对当下国内美术馆志愿者的运作具有重要的借鉴意义。

Ever sincethe day the Metropolitan Art Museum was established, it has always paid attention to public education. In its 145 -year history since establishment, a great many public education activities have evolved, whether regular displays or special exhibitions, actual exhibits or online activities, or even art practice activities involving active public participation. None of these activities would have succeeded without the operating mechanism of its volunteers, an example worthy of em- ulation by volunteers of other galleries in China.
