Media culture and media education——On Douglas Kellner's cultural criticism

凯尔纳认为,由于媒体文化深刻形塑了男男女女的思想与言行,所以传媒教育势在必行。对普通男女来说,要加强媒介素养教育;对文化研究者而言,则需进行批判性的媒体文化研究。我们在借鉴凯尔纳文化批判思想的同时,需要注意两点:其一,他过于强调批判性而在事实上把知识分子扮演的角色狭隘化了;其二,他以美国为焦点的媒体文化偏于负面,世界各地的媒介文化繁复多样,必须在具体语境中考察传媒与社会的关系。

Kellner believes that because the media culture is deeply shaped the thinking and behavior of male and female, so the media education is imperative. For the common men and women, it is necessary to strengthen the media literacy education; to the cultural researchers, it needs to develop a critical research of media culture. We should pay attention to the two points when we draw on the thought of KeUner＇ s cultural criticism. First, he is too much emphasis on the role of critical and in fact the role of intellectuals has been narrowed. Second, the United States as the focus of the media culture is mostly negative. However, the media culture all over the world is complicated and varied, so the relationship between the media and the society should be in- vestigated in the specific context.
