Reflections on New Directions In Indian Dance

传统印度舞有着丰富厚重的文化底蕴,但在现代性条件下面临日益物化和景观化的问题。如何让传统舞蹈在现代社会生活中承担应有的作用成为舞蹈家的重要任务。身为舞蹈家的作者提出,舞蹈是一种身体性的表达,是自由的感性语言,因此从民族的和国际的层面上,推动舞蹈语言的革新,无疑是舞蹈超越物化和景观化的重要路径,也是舞蹈承担起现代交流作用的希望所在。

A Traditional Indian dance has been nourished in cultural wealth, yet it is increasingly confronted with the dilemma of alienation and spectacularization under modernity. How to make traditional dance play an affective role in modern life is the center of a dancer＇s responsibility. This paper argues that dance as an expression of physicality and a sensual language of freedom, should be renovated on both national and international level, helping to transcend its alienation and spectaeularization and to revive its function of communication.
