In Wittgenstein＇s opinion, the proceeding of language games is restricted by the rules of the language game, which is the selectional product in accordance with the language game rules. This paper discusses the syntactic and semantic selection and restriction between the lexical items of sentence components. It finds that the composition of a sentence is restricted by a variety of syntactic and semantic rules; the selection of words is the result of rules＇ restriction, the selection of sentence components accords to the restrictions of rules. It concludes that the discussion of selectional restrictions will help to deepen the understanding of Wittgenstein＇s accordance of language game rules.
