寒山、拾得身世杂考

Textual Research on the Stories of Hanshan and Shide

寒山、拾得曾居苏州寒山寺,唐代人。但二人系唐初贞观时人,抑或是唐朝中期人,争议颇多,根据其生活交游事迹判断,其实为中唐时人。两人虽被称为僧人,其实并未正式剃度出家,只是行者而已。寒山、拾得的真实姓名、籍贯虽无记载,但从寒山诗文中透露出来的信息,可知他是今陕西人。拾得则不知是何地人。从寒山、拾得的诗看,很多是他们隐居生活的写照,并非都是偈语。

Hanshan and Shide lived in Tang Dynasty and they once stayed in Hanshan Temple in Suzhou. There are a lot of controversies about their living in the beginning or the middle period of Tang Dynasty. They actually lived in the middle period of Tang Dynasty according to their needs and life. Although both of them were called monks,as a matter of fact,they had not been formally ordained. They were only Buddhism followers. The information about their real names and places of their born haven＇t been found. But we know Hanshan born in Shaanxi province by the inference of his poetry and as for Shide we don＇t know where he came from. From poems of Hanshan and Shide,we can find many portraitures of their seclusion life,and all of them are not Buddhist＇s chant or hymn.
