Comparative Study of Singapore's Multi- ethnic Policy and the Ethnic Policy of the United States——A case study of pluralistic national cultural policy

民族多元化、文化多样性是现代多民族国家发展的趋势,基于国内的多民族国情,新加坡和美国制定了多元文化的民族政策。两国多元文化的民族政策既有相同之处,也存在较大的差异。两国都是移民国家,多元文化的来源相同,但由于两国民族政策制定的国内政治环境不同,制定过程不同,两国民族文化政策存在不小差异。

Ethnic pluralism and cultural diversity are the development trend of the modern multinational countries. Based on the domestic multinational situation,Singapore and United States formulated the multi- cultural ethnic policies respectively. There is something in common between the policies of the two nations and many differences as well. Both Singapore and United States are countries of immigrants. Therefore,they share the same source of multiculturalism. But,due to the differences in domestic political environment and process of policy formulation,there are great differences in their ethnic and cultural policies.
