By referring to the ＂debate between Tang and Shen＂, a major event in the history of Chinese Theatre, this paper discusses the direction of development for Peking Opera. Peking Opera has played an important role in the history of Chinese Theatre. However, there has been an imbalance between the literary text and the performance. What can the artists do to regain the balance between literature and performance？
