从词语搭配视角看“法定代表人”的英译

On English Translation of “fǎdìng dàibiǎorěn” from the Perspective of Lexical Collocation

本文从词语搭配理论的视角探讨"法定代表人"的英译。搭配理论发现,组合在一起的词语所产生的语义要比它们单独词汇的意义之总更为复杂,即会产生全新的结构意义。基于这一理论,本文对"法定代表人"的英译legal representative进行探索,发现该翻译对等词与原语的结构意义不对等,而与英美法中的corporate officer或chief executive officer对等。

The present article explores the English translation of foding daibidioren from the perspective of lexical collocation theory, which posits that the structural meaning arising from words combined tends to be more complex and varied than the sum of lexical meanings of the individual words. Based on this theory, the paper makes a close study of the English translation, i. e. ＂legal representative＂ of fading daibidoren and argues thatit differs widely in structural meaning from the Chinese expression which is actually equivalent to ＂corporate officer＂ or ＂chief executive officer＂ in common law.
