They become the dual other, neither accepted by Chinese nor American culture. This essay interprets the long time cultural orientation process of Chinese Americans, especially the culture adherence of first generation of Chinese emmigrants. As the second generation were born in America, they face the contradictions and confusion of two kinds of cultures and the embarrassing status of the double others.
