摘要
作为近代教育重要一翼的社会教育,尽管其呼吁主体同为留学生和社会精英,但在制度设计上却有着与学校教育完全不同的发展理路。它兼采中西之学而向传统致敬的脉络清晰,其制度传承更多体现的是绵延而非断裂。民国时期的民众学校作为一种广泛存在的社会教育机构,成为地方社会文化传承与再生产的基本手段,体现出近现代教育空间的创设无法逃脱原有的教育空间与相对地方化的社会传统,也表现出近现代教育空间的建立与当地原有的社会、文化、教育空间相磨合的复杂过程。
Social education, as an important part of modern education, was totally different from school education in system design, while they were both advocated by the same people: overseas students and social elites. Social education not only took references from education of China and the western countries, but also showed respect to the tradition specifically. Taking the system inheritance into account it was tradition succession rather than breakage. As a popular social education institution which existed all over the country, mass schools became the basic means of social culture reproduction and succession, and conveyed that the space establishment of modem education couldn't get rid of the original national education space and the local social traditions. Besides, it also illustrated the complicated integration between the modem education establishment and the original society, as well as the culture and education.
