Theoretical Study on Relationship between FDI and Poverty

贫困是全球面临的一个共同问题,它不仅阻碍一国经济发展的步伐,更危害到一国的民生,因此,解决贫困问题的意义十分重大。解决贫困问题的途径有很多,包括经济途径、社会途径以及法律途径等,本文主要从经济层面探讨如何减少或缓解中国贫困。有关经济增长与贫困之间关系的理论和实证文献有很多,但是关于金融发展和贫困关系的文献并不多。本文将针对该问题的一个分支——金融自由化中外商直接投资与贫困的关系问题展开理论研究,并得出外商直接投资对贫困有缓解作用的结论。

Poverty is a common problem confronted by countries all over the world. It notonly hinders the pace of a country's economic development, but does harm to people'slivelihood. Consequently, it is of great importance for poverty problem to be solved.There are many ways of solving poverty problem, including economically, socially and by law. This paper primarily discusses how to reduce or relieve poverty in the economic way. Although literature about the relationship between economic growth and poverty varies widely and deeply both theoretically and empirically, literature about the relationship between financial development and poverty is rarely seen. The paper focuses on one branch of this problem the relationship between foreign direct investment and poverty in financial liberalization theoretically. It concludes that foreign direct investment should have a positive impact on poverty.
