浅谈中医四字词组的英译——基于Ilza Veith的《黄帝内经·素问》英译本的研究

On English Translation of Four- letter Expressions in Traditional Chinese Medicine——from the Perspective of Ilza Veith's "The Yellow Emperor's Classic of Internal Medicine"

随着中医逐渐得到国际医学界的认可,中医英译的重要性也日益凸显,四字词组作为汉语常用的表达方式,在中医典籍中经常出现。文章以Ilza Veith所译的《黄帝内经·素问》为研究对象,讨论了四字词组的结构及其翻译方法,发现Veith女士主要采用直译的方法来翻译中医四字词组,这与近年来中医对外宣传以原语为导向的发展趋势不谋而合。

As TCM（ Traditional Chinese Medicine） is gradually being accepted by international medical circle,the importance of English translation has become increasingly prominent. The four- letter expression,common in Chinese,also appears frequently in TCM classic works. Taking The Yellow Emperor＇s Classic of Internal Medicine,translated by Ilza Veith,as the study object,this thesis discusses the structure and translation strategies of four- letter expressions and draws the conclusion that Ilza Veith mainly adopted literal translation strategy to deal with four- letter expressions in TCM,which is in accordance with the source-language- oriented strategy tendency in TCM translation in recent years.
