A Reader-group Centered Research on the Scope and Media of the Influence on Public Opinion by Observation

20世纪40年代中后期,在中国历史剧变的紧要关头,以储安平为代表的部分自由知识分子创办《观察》杂志,并秉持民主、自由、进步、理性的宗旨,畅言论政,在知识分子群体中引起极大的共鸣与反响。杂志的发行量一度达到10万多份,读者群体更是覆盖全国,《观察》及其承载的自由知识分子的政治理想,以读者群体为媒介浸润全国,对当时中国社会的舆论风向产生了巨大的影响,更对中国自由主义思想的传承和发展产生了深远的影响。

Observation was started in the mid and late forties of the twentieth century, a crucial turning point in China history, by liberal intellectuals led by Anping Chu. The magazine upheld the tenets of democra- cy, liberty, progress, and rationality, committed itself to current political affairs, and was highly accepted and recognized by intellectuals. The circulation of the magazine reached as high as 100,000 with nationwide readers. With the political ideals of the free intellectuals, via the media of its reader group, Observation effected tremen- dous influence on public opinion of China of that time, and further on exerted profound influence on the inherit- ance and development of liberal thoughts.
