Application of ESP Teaching in Professional Institutions

ESP课程教学,即专门用途英语课程教学,是近年来大学英语教学的一个发展方向。目前,ESP课程教学在国内的研究仍处于初级阶段,在教学模式、课程设置、教师素养等方面仍有许多不足。全国各专业类院校根据自身的专业特点,开设ESP课程,有利于提高学生的综合能力。但目前由于缺少统一的教学大纲和教材,在教学过程中遇到很多共性问题,亟需解决。

ESP （English for Specific Purposes） is a main direction of college English research. At present, ESP teaching is still at the primary level which makes defects on teaching mode, curriculum provision and teacher＇ s qualification. Professional colleges in China had offered ESP courses which can improve the comprehensive ability of students and strengthen their international competition. However,lacking of specific curriculum program of instruction and teaching material results in many common problems during the teaching of ESP.
