夏洛特·帕金斯·吉尔曼是美国19世纪末20世纪初最重要的女性作家之一。其短篇小说《她的美》讲述相貌平平却天资聪颖的女孩艾玛瑞里斯在父权制的压制下失去自信心和爱情,在内心女性意识逐渐觉醒后,她通过自身的努力获得女性话语权和经济独立,实现新女性身份的转变。从女性主义视角对小说进行解读,通过分析吉尔曼对新女性潜能的挖掘和对男性形象的塑造,揭示其对女性创造力和管理能力的充分展现和对构建和谐两性关系的呼吁。

Charlotte Perkins Gilman was one of the most significant female authors in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century.Her short novel ＂Her Beauty＂ described the story of a girl Amaryllis who was not beautiful but talented.Under the oppression of patriarchy,she lost her confidence and her love.After the dying of her girlish love,her inner feminist ideology awakened.Owing to her hardworking and talent,she became a new woman and got female right of speech and the right to independence.This paper aims to analyze the novel from the perspective of feminism,and discloses that Gilman not only gave full play to the female creativity and management,but also called for the harmonious relationship between men and women by excavating the ability of woman and shaping the image of man.
