S. T. Coleridge was a poet, social critic and famous conservative thinker in 19th -century Eng- land. Young Coleridge was radical, but he became more and more conservative over time. He was initially sympathetic to the French Revolution, with the development of the revolution, he came to criticize its ideals and principles, expose the brutal nature of Napoleon＇ s rule, and attack the philosophe. His reflections on the French Revolution have enriched our understanding of the revolution.
