Margaret Atwood's 'Rape Fantasies' is intricately connected with the Second Wave Feminism in more than one way.Deeply rooted in the feminism's anti-rape discourse, the story transforms female rape fantasies popularized by the mainstream media into anti-rape fantasies that bring into focus verbal communication as a useful deterrence to sexual assault but with doubtful efficacy in reality. The story's removal from the US and the UK edition of Dancing Girls and Other Stories in 1982 reflects an ambiguous correlation with the contentious debate that divided the feminist camp then.
