The acquired immunodeficiency syndrome （AIDS） is caused by the human immunodeficiency virus （HIV）. The HIV RT inhibitors are divided into two groups, nucleosides and non-nucleosides, according to the chemical structure type and drug action. The research progress of non-nucleoside HIV-1 RT inhibitors was reviewed.
