The father-son conflict in the play King Lear embodies multiple ethical principles. First,the conflict reflects the evolution of social ethics and the traditional patriarchy was challenged by new ideas. The young generation appeared bold enough to rebel against patriarchy. They did anything to resolve anxiety and threats coming from patriarchy and eventually became the winner of the conflict. Secondly,the conflict shows worship for laws of nature which destroyed the civilization of human society. From aesthetic principles,the conflict between good and evil highlights good. So literature tends to zoom good in the background of evil and reflect social ethics through negative consequences brought by evil.
