This June and July, 600 contestants from 92 countries participated in '2016 Chinese Bridge----Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreigners across the Globe', and 72 contestants were awarded the chance to go to Beijing for the final competition. 'Before I participated in the competition, I never met anyone whose Chinese was better than mine,' Sam Hayden Smith from Australia said. The competition allowed the contestants show their understanding of Chinese culture. Shin Soun from South Korea parodied CCTV-News, a prime-time news program covering political and economical news in China, in a humorous way. Sam Hayden Smith gave a performance named 'Shuanghuang', a kind of cross talk, in which one performs ahead speaking without a voice, and giving the corresponding actions, while his partner behind him is actually speaking.
