The revival of Guoxue （Chinese studies） not only reflects Chinese peopled self-consciouspursuit of the Five Constant Virtues - ren （benevolence）,yi （righteousness）, li （propriety）,zhi （wisdom）, and xin （faithfulness）, but also echoes the cultivation of socialist core values.President Xi Jinping has put forward a set of guiding principles on the promotion oftraditional Chinese culture. In the 2 1 st century, we should not be confined or trapped withinclassic books or research papers, but make alive fine cultural traditions the fertile soil forthe soul of the Chinese nation, deep-rooted in our communities, families and minds. Twoconditions must be met to keep the fine traditional Chinese culture alive： First, we shouldawaken the cultural gene of Chinese people with accessible cultural traditions; Second, theresearch of classics should address the contemporary challenges facing our world and serveas the driving force of social progress.
