在一定语境下说出的言语常常能分解为两种既相互区别又相互统一的意义,即话面意义和含义。一个言语的话面意义和含义的对立足一种特殊的歧义。文章以格赖斯的会话合作原则为理论依据,从反语、移觉和比喻三个方面对英语言语交谈中质的准则所触发的歧义进行探讨,以期对英语学习者成功地进跨文化言语交际有所帮助。

An utterance in a particular context usually has two kinds of meaning. One is known as sentence meaning, while the other is known as implicature.These two kinds of meaning are different in some way, but also related in any way .So they cause some kind ambiguity.In this article, the author tries to analyse this kind ambiguity in the following three aspects: irony synaesthesial and metaphor, by employing Grice's Cooperative Principles.The ambiguity related to Quality maxim is the focus of the discussion.
