Objective To observe the clinical efficacy and safety of microvascular decompression versus traditional operation for the treatment of primary facial spasm. Methods Totally 82 eases with primary facial spasm treated in our hospital from 2013 to 2014 were selected and were randomly divided into study group and control group, which separately received microvascular decompression and traditional nerve amputation. Results The significant efficiency rate and the total effective rate of the observation group were evidently higher than those of the control group after treatment(P〈0.05). And the postoperative complications of the observation group were evidently lower than those of the control group(P〈0. 05). And the observation group had lower recurrence rate compared with the control group two years after operation(P〈0.05). Conclusion Compared with traditional operation, microvascular decompression not only has better clinical effect and higher safety, but also can effective control the recurrence of diseases in the treatment of primary facial spasm, which has higher value of promotion and application.
