Application of PDA in data acquisition in nursing

目的：评价掌上电脑（ PDA）用于护理数据采集的优势与不足。方法以首都医科大学附属北京天坛医院工作的110名在职护士为研究对象,以调查问卷的方式采集护理人员对PDA使用的评价。问卷包含若干个关于PDA用于数据采集的问题,主要从效率、准确性及可操作性3个方面进行评价。结果对于PDA数据采集有效性的问题,80.9%的护士认为PDA增加了数据采集的工作效率；对于PDA可操作性的问题,92名（83.6%）护士认为PDA可操作性好,其余护士认为可操作性差,大多为年长的护士；对于PDA用于数据采集准确性的问题,92.7%的护士认为由于PDA内置专门的软件,输入数据时准确性增加。此外,调研结果表明,其他一些不足也影响了PDA的使用。结论 PDA可以有效帮助护理人员提高工作效率,具有较好的应用前景。但是,PDA的设备及软件需要进行改进以适应临床工作。

Objective To evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of personal digital assistant （ PDA） for data collection in nursing practice. Methods A total of 110 nurses who worked in Beijing Tiantan Hospital were asked to complete a questionnaire which contained several open and closed questions about using PDA for data collection. Efficiency, accuracy, handleability were evaluated and analyzed after data collection. Results For the problem of PDA data acquisition, 80. 9% of the nurses believed that PDA increased the efficiency of data acquisition;for the PDA operation, 92 nurses （83. 6%） believed that the PDA operation was good, and the rest of the nurses thought operability was poor, especially for older nurses; for PDA data acquisition accuracy, 92. 7% of the nurses believed that the PDA builtin specialized software which resulted in input data accuracy＆amp;nbsp;increased. In addition, the results of the survey showed that some other shortcomings also affected the use of PDA. Conclusions PDA can help nursing staff to improve work efficiency, and has good application prospects. However, the PDA equipment and software require improving to adapt to the clinical work.
