摘要
本文旨在探索跨文化能力培养的有效课堂教学模式。依据Mezirow转化学习理论,笔者认为,通过批判性反思促成学生从本族中心主义向本族相对主义转变,是提高学生跨文化能力的关键。基于这一理念,笔者设计了反思性跨文化教学模式。笔者采用行动研究的方法,在大学英语专题课"语言、文化与交际"上实施了一学期的教学。通过对学生作业、课堂观察笔记、开放性调查问卷等数据进行质化分析,本研究发现,反思性跨文化教学模式不仅能帮助学生掌握文化知识和沟通技能,还能通过质疑固有观念,帮助他们走出文化定型,更加深刻地认识自我与他人,培养开放、包容的观念和态度。
The paper is an attempt to explore effective language teaching models to develop intercultural competence for Chinese students.Drawing on Mezirow's transformative learning theory,the authors think of "critical reflection" which prompts a frame of reference shift from ethnocentric to ethnorelative worldview and attitudes as central to the development of intercultural competence,and designed a Reflective Intercultural Teaching Model.The paper documented an action research in implementing the teaching model in a college English class "Language,Culture and Communication",and assessed the transformative effect of the teaching model in developing intercultural competence based on qualitative data from multiple sources.The study found that Reflective Intercultural Teaching Model not only helped students to acquire cultural knowledge and communication skills,it also helped them to reexamine assumptions and go beyond stereotypes,therefore they became more open,understanding and tolerant to the differences among themselves and others.
