This paper presents an in-depth analysis of the compilation of Contemporary English Corpus for Textbooks and its uses in the compilation of English textbooks. Specifically,the corpus can be used in the choice of texts for textbooks,the compilation of teaching contents and exercises,and the development of online learning system of English textbooks. It is argued that the use of the corpus can overcme the limitations in the compilation of English textbooks and brings about a revolutionary change in the philosophy and methodology for the compilation of English textbooks.
