The dance etiquette of presentation to the emperor on New Year's Day and winter solstice in the Tang Dynasty originated from the ritual dance of Zhouli( 《周禮 》),and evolved through the Northern and Southern Dynasties to the specific etiquette in the Sui and Tang Dynasties when ministers seek an audience with the emperor. It conveys the connotation of 'complying with nature and fate, filial piety, protecting the people'from the political ethics of the Western Zhou Dynasty.
