The article deals with the role of the Visegrad Group, which participating countries are Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovkia, in the shaping of the new political, economic and security architecture in the region of Central Europe. The author analyses the strengths and weaknesses of the Visegrad cooperation and its impact on the politics of European Union and NATO. The thesis of the article is that the main tool of the influence of the Visegrad Group in Europe- in European Union, in South-Eastern Europe and in the EU Eastern Neighborhood- is the soft power. However,the recent trend of the Visegrad cooperation shows the increasing role of its economic dimension, regional development cooperation and the security cooperation. The role of the Visegrad Group within European Union is on the rise.
