摘要
作为"第四部门"的美国大众传媒,通过新闻报道完成一道议题设置,议题一旦得到公众响应,达成共识,就会形成舆论影响政府的政治决策。在此过程中塑造的他者形象,是多重因素作用下的结果,美国媒体通过叙事建构西藏,加之对西藏的固有印象,加深了美国政府和公众对西藏问题上的认知,然而这种认知在一定程度上必然是错位的。
American mass media, as the "fourth branch", can affect the government' s decision-making by setting a topic and winning the public support. The image of "other" is developed with the influence of multiple factors. American mass media created a Tibet nar- ration and strengthen government and people's understanding of Tibet. This understanding and interpretation must be wrong to some extent due to the guiding nature of the mass media and stereotype.
