The hard pottery, proto-porcelain and glazed pottery wares unearthed at Yinxu Site have thin bodies and hard and fine texture, the types of which were pou-liquid container, dou-stemmed bowl, pot, bobowl, jar, vessel lid, etc., the dates of which covered the time from the late stage of Phase I through Phase IV of Yinxu Period, but had styles different from that of the bronzes and large amounts of common pottery wares which represented the typical Yinxu Culture, therefore they were the representatives of an outside cultural element. Seen in the terms of materials, making techniques and cultural styles, the hard pottery, proto-porcelain and glazed pottery wares unearthed at Yinxu Site had close ties with the areas of the lower reach of the Xiang River in Hunan and the Gan River Valley in Jiangxi centered by the Wucheng Site, so the proto-porcelains found in the Central Plains and the northern areas including the Yinxu Site would be transported in from the southern area.
