Modern medical plastic technology was introduced to China in the late Qing Dynasty. It had drawn great attentions due to the repair and reconstruction of the mulitation of the body. There was moral controversy for women to change their physical appearance with the help of medical technology. Some of the scholars claimed that the development of medical science and technology should be regulated within moral and ethical norms. "Change the body and modify the look" went against the traditional Chinese conception of the body and was a betrayal of the view of beauty of woman. With the development of the film industry during the period of the People's Republic of China, medical plastic surgery gained further promo.tion in people's daily life. A new concept of beauty challenged the traditional view of the body in the society.
