桐城方氏家族刻书述论

On the Engraving Books of Fang Family of Tongcheng

作为清代桐城五大世家之一的方氏家族,不仅在文学与思想造诣上声名远扬,在家族刻书领域亦颇有建树。文章通过整理以方文、方以智、方苞为代表的桂林方和以方东树、方宗诚为代表的鲁谼方的家族刻书成果,分析总结了桐城方氏家族的刻书特点、繁荣原因及文化成就。

The Fang family, as one of the five aristocratic families of Tongcheng in Qing Dynasty, not onlyenjoys a widespread reputation in literary and ideological attainments, but also is very famous for the family’scontribution on engraving books. This paper mainly presents the contributions on engraving books m a d e by twobranches of Tongcheng Fang family, namely the Guilin Fang family represented by Fang W e n , Fang Yi-zhi, FangB a o , and the Luhong Fang family represented by Fang D o n g - shu, Fang Z o n g - cheng. Through the collating oftheir fruitful results, the characteristics of Tongcheng Fang family’s engraving books, the reasons for theirprosperity as well as the cultural achievements are analyzed and summarized.
