China is now in the speed-up stage of urbanization and indu-strialization. Many municipal government are facing the difficult problem of what kind of urban trans-portation system is sustainable. This pa-per tries to answer. Firstly, the authors introduce the land-use pattern and urban transportation pattern. Finally, based on analysis of factors that influence the choice of urban transportation pattern. The au-thors put forward that the sustainable transportation pattern of big cities in China must be: priority of public transport, suit-able development of cars and bicycles, high efficiency, energy saving and pro-tecting environment.
