土司文化是指由中央王朝与西南、中南及西北土司地区各族民众在长期的社会历史发展过程中共同创造的与土司制度密切相关的物质文化、制度文化和精神文化的总和。土司文化的特点有四:多元性、丰富性、民族性和不可再生性。土司文化蕴含着思想价值、历史价值、学术价值、教育价值、艺术价值、资源(经济)价值等多重价值。
