The Construction of World Class Universities Calls for Educator Principals

鉴于对世界一流大学重要性的认识,我们需要能够担负起世界一流大学建设之使命责任的教育家型校长。作为治理大学的最高行政长官,大学校长应该是教育家、学者和道德楷模三个角色的集合,即其职业素质应该集三者于一身。大学校长要成为教育家就在于:其首先要富有教育思想,即独到的办学治校的教育理念和系统的教育理论;其次要具有强烈的教育使命感、责任意识及有敢为天下先的胆识,即对教育有一种执着的爱和忠诚以及求新求变的教育理想和勇气;最后要具有治理大学的能力和领导大学的艺术,即按大学发展的规律办学、按人才培养的规律治教、按科学管理的规律治校的能力。

In recognition of the importance of world class universities,we need educator principals who could shoulder the mission of constructing world first-class universities.As the chief official of school administration,university principals should be the three roles of educator,scholar and moral model combined,which means that their professional quality should combine these three.For university principals to become educators,the keys are as follows：（1）educational ideas,such as unique ideas for school administration and systematic education theories;（2）strong sense of mission and responsibility,the courage and insight to be No.1of the world,enduring love and loyalty towards education,and the idea and courage of always seeking changes;（3）the ability of university administration and the art of leading university,which means the ability to conduct administration by the law of university development,to conduct instruction by the law of talent cultivation,and to conduct management by the law of scientific management.
