探讨从长江三角洲都市密集区和区域内城镇发展的实际出发,顺应经济全球化和世界城市群体化发展的趋势,围绕提高区域综合竞争力和基本实现现代化的目标,重在形成以苏州市区为中心、五个县级市城区为副中心、小城镇为依托的网络状、众星拱月式的群体城市形态。

In order to develop abigger Suzhou, based on the actualdensity of cities in the Yangtze Riverdelta and the township growthwithin the region, we should con-form to the tendencies of economicglobalization and city grouping ten-dencies of the world. We shall fo-cus on the purpose of enhancingthe regional competitiveness andbasically realizing modernization,emphasize the formation of a citycluster network with Suzhou city atits center, five counties urban ar-eas as its sub-centers and comple-mented with small townships.
