In the paper, the design and applications of ABB IndustrialIT 800xA system in control of retaining system for mandrel of seamless tube mainly including technological process, system configuration, control function of software and per- formance analysis are introduced. The automatic control level of retaining system for mandrel of seamless tube is improved significantly, rhythm of production and control accuracy are effectively improved as well as stability and reliability of produc- tion are effectively ensured through applying the system.
