新儒家关注的核心问题便是如何由"内圣"开出"新外王"、"返本开新"这一问题。徐复观也不例外,他的政治哲学在内在理路是,以儒家道德精神为基础,以性善论为民主政治来源,以自由主义论政,开出德治主义与民主政治相融合的"儒家自由主义"。

The core issue of Neo Confucianism is how to achieve ＂new eternal emperor＂ by using ＂internal Sage＂. Xu Fuguan is no exception. The logic of his political philosophy is： in order to reach ＂Confucian liberalism＂, we need to base on Confucian＇ s moral spirit; to gain sources from the ＂theory of original goodness of human nature ＂ ; to discuss the thoughes of liberalism and to combine ＂rule of virtue＂ and democratic politics.
