以台湾舆论或涉台舆论为研究对象,或者用舆论方法研究台湾的研究,统称台湾舆论研究,它与台湾民意研究、台湾新闻研究、台湾传媒研究及台湾政治研究,彼此重叠,却并不从属。其学术谱系中的定位有两个区间,一是处在台湾研究的学术谱系中,台湾舆论研究与台湾政治研究的关系最为密切,调性更趋类似,地位举足轻重;二是处在中国舆论研究的学术谱系中,台湾舆论研究有着相对完整的发展周期,其舆论场相对独立,舆论主体多层多样,舆论形式异常发达,舆论议题更呈"米"字型结构错位层叠,是中国舆论研究不可多得的区域研究特例。台湾舆论研究的存在及其价值是由其研究对象决定的,其在台湾研究与中国舆论研究双重缺失的不对称现象急需扭转。

What are collectively known as Taiwan＇s Public Opinion Research could include the studies whose research targets are public opinion within Taiwan, and the public opinion related to Taiwan. It can also include Taiwan studies with public opinion research methods.It does share similarities and overlaps with the Poll Study of Taiwan, Taiwan Journalism Study, Taiwan Media Study and Taiwan Political study, while each of them is independent.Taiwan Public Opinion research could be located in two academic areas.On the one hand, it comes from Taiwan study. Taiwan Public Opinion Research has the closest relationship with Taiwan Political Study, and they share many similarities. Therefore,it has a significant position.On the other hand, when put in the field of Public Opinion Research of Chinese Mainland, Taiwan Public Opinion research has a relatively complete developing cycle. It has its own public opinion field where there are varieties of public opinion subjects and forms. In addition, the agenda of Taiwan＇s Public Opinion follows with the structure of Chinese character＂米＂, which is quite unique and can be a special regional research case in Public Opinion Research of China.As can be seen from the above, the existence and the value of Taiwan Public Opinion Research depend on its research object. It is so valuable that it calls for more attention in both the fields of Taiwan Study and Public Opinion Study of Chinese Mainland.
