“关系”一词的零翻译、音译和不译

随着中国与世界交往日益频繁,外宣翻译已经成为中国与世界沟通的重要桥梁。越来越多的中国词汇正在走进外国语言文化。关于如何翻译这些词汇引起翻译理论界的关注。其中,"关系"一词在汉语中具有多种含义,翻译成英语时应该采取不译、零翻译还是音译的策略是讨论的焦点。笔者通过对零翻译进行分类,音译的适用范围以及不译的使用情况分析,进行对比研究,从而得出"关系"应该采取不译的方法。通过"关系"的翻译分析,可以为笔译工作者以后遇到类似词语的翻译提供借鉴,而且也有助于其更好地区分零翻译、音译及不译。

With the increasing exchange between China and the world, translation of Publicity Materials has become an important bridge connecting China and the outside world. More and more Chinese expressions are entering foreign language cultures. As a result, it has aroused the attention in the field of translation about how to translate such expressions. One of them is ＂guanxi＂, which has several meanings. How to translation this phrase has been the focus of many discussions. Three methods-non- translation, zero translation and transliteration, which one will be the best？ The author of the paper tries to classify zero translation, identify the scope of transliteration and also analyze the conditions of using non-translation. The author also gives specific examples for the three methods. It is concluded that the translation of＂guanxP＇ should follow non- translation. Through such an analysis, the paper can offer references to translators when they are confronted with such phrases. Besides, this paper is also conducive to the better discrimination among zero translation, transliteration and non-translation.
