How university libraries provide information service for the society is always an important research topic in the field of library. Firstly, the concept of information service and some researches in this field are introduced, and a new pattern of information service is proposed, which emphasizes on the cooperation between library, government and enterprises. Then, some productions of information service are introduced, such as Information Reference, Science and Technology Innovation Dynamics and Information Express. Finally, the patterns of information service for the society are further explored, and some useful experience are provided with the conclusion.
