试论“零翻译”与汉语的纯洁性

On Transference and the Purity of Chinese

近年来出现在汉语中的外来字母词越来越多,《人民日报》认为使用这种"零翻译"词汇破坏了汉语纯洁性,此观点引发广泛讨论。笔者认为纯洁性不是语言的必要属性,作为工具的语言,总是在与他语言文化融合中发展。人们强调保持语言的纯洁性,实际上传达了对保存语言文化个性的期望,这种期望不能通过保存文字形式的不变实现,只能依靠人们对该语言文化的自觉意识,接受、维护并主动传承。我们要理性地看待汉语中出现的"零翻译"字母词现象,并有清醒的认识,既不要夸大其后果的严重性,也要杜绝滥用字母词。

The direct application of letter words by transference was criticized by People＇ s Daily on the ground that it would badly damage the purity of Chinese,which aroused extensive discussions.As a communication tool,a language develops in the course of integrating with other languages and cultures,and purity cannot be regarded as its imperative attribute.Maintaining the purity of Chinese conveys people＇ s hope of preserving the traditional culture with Chinese characteristics,which cannot be realized by keeping the form of Chinese words unaltered,but largely depends on people＇ s consciousness of their culture so as to actively accept,maintain and inherit it.In face of letter words directly transferred in Chinese,people should be rational and have a clear understanding of this phenomenon without exaggerating the severity of the consequence.However,it is also necessary to prevent the abuse of letter words.
