系统功能视角下英文歌词语篇衔接探究

On the Cohesive Devices in English Lyrics from the Perspective of Systemic Functional Linguistics

作为一种比较特殊的语篇,歌词不仅需要在韵律方面做到连贯畅达,还需要借助外在的衔接手段进一步加强在语义层面的表达以凸显歌词的主题思想和情感内涵。基于Halliday的系统功能语法理论,选取八首耳熟能详的英文歌词作为文本语料,探究歌词在照应、替代、省略、连接等衔接手段上的运用,以此窥见歌词在衔接手段方面的特点,为全面了解歌词语篇提供一定的借鉴。

As a kind of special text,lyrics not only need to be harmonious in rhythm and meter,but also need to use other external cohesive devices in the lexical- grammar stratum to further strengthen the semantic and emotional expression. Based on Halliday ’s systemic functional grammar theory,this paper explores,with eight pieces of English Song lyrics as text corpus,the application of cohesive devices such as reference,substitution,ellipsis and conjunction to find out the cohesive characteristics in lyrics and offer some implications for interpreting lyrics better.
